Venue Rules
Below we provide you with relevant information about the venue's regulations
- Admission and regulations at the Alhambra and Generalife Monumental Complex
- The number of tickets is limited, so they will be provided as availability exists.
- Due to high demand, it is recommended to purchase tickets in advance.
- The ticket is only valid for the day of the visit.
- Access to the Monument
- It is recommended to arrive early, as the estimated time for the complete visit is approximately three hours.
- You can only access the Monument during the morning, afternoon, or evening, depending on the ticket you purchased (see ticket types). Plan your visit around the time slot assigned for access to the Nasrid Palaces.
- If you don't have a ticket, you must purchase one at the ticket office located in the Entrance Pavilion. From there, you can access the Alcazaba, Nasrid Palaces, and Generalife.
- If you have a ticket, it is recommended that you enter the premises through the Gate of Justice.
- Access to the Nasrid Palaces
- This can only be done within the half-hour indicated on the ticket, due to capacity restrictions in this space (300 people every half hour). Failure to do so within this time slot will result in the loss of the right to visit.
- The last visit ends one hour before closing time. You must visit the Generalife and the Alcazaba beforehand, as the tour of the Palaces takes at least half an hour. The grounds are cleared after closing time.
- Basic rules for access to the monument
- Do not carry backpacks or large bags.
- No smoking in the Palaces or enclosed spaces.
- Do not photograph with a tripod.
- Do not eat or drink except in designated areas.
- Respect for rules and instructions.
- DO NOT TOUCH THE WALL DECORATIONS.
- DO NOT TOUCH OR LEAN ON THE COLUMNS.
- DO NOT TOUCH THE GARDEN PLANTS.
- TAKE EXTREME PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID FALLS.
- Please use the wastebaskets; do not throw anything on the ground; help clean the Monument.
- Do not drink water from fountains and ornamental pillars. There are plenty of fountains with drinking water.
- Out of respect for other visitors and to ensure a pleasant atmosphere during the visit, please maintain as civil a demeanor as possible: avoid crowds and excessively loud voices, and remove certain items of clothing.
- The maximum number of people authorized for a group is 30, plus 1 duly accredited guide or person in charge of the group.
- Given the small size of some spaces, it is recommended not to explain in the following places: Hall of the Two Sisters, North Gallery of the Generalife.
- In the event of excessive crowding in specific locations, Monument security guards may, at their discretion, address visitors to expedite the visit.
- Please refrain from using a flash during your night visit, as it dazzles other visitors, causing discomfort and impeding the serene perception of the suggestively lit interiors.
- Regime of infractions and sanctions
- The sale and resale of tickets to the Alhambra and Generalife monuments on the street or mobile is prohibited.
- Counterfeiting of tickets for access to the Alhambra and Generalife is prohibited.
- It is prohibited to give tips or any other type of gifts to the staff of the Alhambra and Generalife Trust.
- The rules and instructions provided throughout the visiting route, as well as those issued by security and safety personnel, are mandatory.
- Respectful and considerate conduct must be observed with security and safety personnel.
- Failure to comply with the provisions of this section, as well as a lack of consideration for security and safety personnel, will result in the offender being expelled from the Monumental Site, without a refund of the admission fee.
- Without prejudice to the foregoing, the Board of Trustees of the Alhambra and Generalife reserves the right to exercise appropriate civil and/or criminal actions, as well as administrative actions where appropriate.
- The regulations governing visits to the monument were approved by the Board of Trustees, published in the Official Gazette of the City of Buenos Aires (BOJA) No. 30 of February 13, 2003.
